Triumph Brewing Co. History

Posted by Triumph Brewing Company

The origins of Triumph Brewing Co. can be traced back to a clan of beer - worshipping Vikings from Northern Europe.  To escape religious persecution, the sullen warriors made a raft of empty beer barrels and headed for the New World.  Originally landing in the vicinity of New England, the Vickings were pushed south due to rampant settlements of Pilgrims.  With its Old World Charm and abundance of natural resources, Princeton, New Jersey became the new home for the travel-weary Vikings.  They immediately set up shop, building gigantic mash tuns plausible only in the New World.  The Vikings lived a simplistic and harmonious existence for many, many years - at least until Prohibition.

The Vikings way of life looked to be shattered by the New World's new laws.  They packed their beer steins and bear skins and built another raft out of beer barrels.  In a drastic turn of events, an Irish lawyer friend informed them of their right to religious freedom in the United States.  For two barrels of ale, their new Irish friend brought their case, Drunken Vikings vs. The State of New Jersey, all the way to the Supreme Court.  The glorious victory marked a new era for the pious tribe.

With the legal right to produce alcohol during Prohibition, the Drunken Vikings made a fortune, making them the second wealthiest religion in the world.  Bear skins were replaced with business suits, pens took the place of axes, and barrel-rafts disappeared in favor of Model Ts.  Within twenty years, Drunken Vikings Inc. became a Fortune 100 company branching off into numerous aspects of trade and commerce.

Sadly enough, the Vikings' business savvy could not keep up with their beer-worshipping and by the 1980s, cerosis had wiped out the majority of the clan, leaving only a handful of Vikings left.  Using the remainder of their once vast fortune, the remaining Vikings built Triumph Brewing Company at 138 Nassau Street in downtown Princeton, the location of their ancestors proverbial beer vat in the New World.

The last Viking sold Triumph to its current owners with the agreement that his mummified body, fully decorated in ceremonial Viking garb, would remain encased in glass in the entry-way leading into the brew pub, greeting every fellow Drunken Viking on their way to the bar.

Triumph Brewing Co. is available for corporate and private parties.
