Supper, family style

Posted by Kaytie Dowling

If you miss Sunday dinner, the kind that mom used to make, complete with the shopping trip and all, you're in luck: The next dinner in the Supper series (at, appropriately enough, Supper) is coming up on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 6:30 p.m.

The dinner is based around the fresh ingredients from what I consider to be one of the best farmers markets in the area: Headhouse Square Farmer’s Market. Of course, what makes the meal unique is that you don't just eat those delicious fresh, local ingredients. You can help shop with the chef for them, too. Chef Mitch Prensky takes up to 10 diners with him at 10 a.m. that morning for a tour and shopping expedition at the open-air market. The tour costs $20, with the proceeds The Food Trust (which operates 29 local farmers’ markets).

As far as the meal itself, the cost is $38 per person, and you'll get three courses, and again, a portion of proceeds will be donated to The Food Trust. I would give you a hint at what the menu will consist of, but that depends what's available at the market.

And, just like at home, if you want a say in what's being cooked, you've got to help at the store. So get going. Reservations are limited.
