Not your standard fast food stop

Posted by MATT COUGHLIN

A 32-year-old worker at a fast-food joint was allegedly selling a different kind of whopper.

Police said an off-duty Tullytown officer was on his way home shortly after midnight Monday when he stopped at the Burger King on New Falls Road near Hood Boulevard for something to eat. Shawn McClister ordered a meal through the speaker at the drive-through and then drove around to the window to pick up his food.

An employee, later identified as Taharka Johnson, 32, asked if the off-duty cop had any alcohol for him, according to police. The cop said he asked, “What?” and Johnson replied that he had a bag of weed for sale or he was willing to trade it for alcohol. Johnson said he had it in the back of the restaurant and asked if the officer wanted to see it, police said. As another worker handed McClister his actual order, Johnson allegedly showed the officer a black bag in one hand and a clear “dime bag” of “green vegetable matter” in his other hand.

At that point, McClister rotated his knit cap so the words “Tullytown Police” were at the front and said, “That’s not a smart idea, now is it?” McClister left and flagged down an on-duty Falls cop, police said. Moments later McClister followed Falls police into the Burger King and identified Johnson as the man who offered him marijuana, according to police. Police said that Johnson was arrested and they found the black bag with several small clear baggies inside it in a trash can.

Johnson, who in separate police reports has addresses in Trenton and Bristol Township, was arraigned on drug possession with intent to deliver, drug possession and drug paraphernalia charges before District Judge Jan Vislosky Monday and sent to Bucks County Prison on $50,000 bail.
