Free beer and cheese

Posted by Kaytie Dowling

Like cheese? How 'bout beer? Yeah, that's what I thought.

You, dear reader, are in for some good news. You can swing by Avalon Restaurant, an Italian BYOB near West Chester, is offering up a free cheese and beer course for diners on Friday evenings. Chef/Owner John Brandt-Lee prepares the free amuse bouche using fresh cheeses from DiBruno Brothers and local beers with carefully-matched accompaniments. Yep, I did say free. In the past, the appetizer-lite has included beers such as Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA and Victory Festbier and cheeses have included cow's milk cheese and Caccio di Roma, among others.

You'll want more than a bite of cheese and beer though, and Avalon has some good options. The menu focuses on rustic Italian cuisine and showcases items like butternut squash ravioli, scallops and some very memorable antipasti.
