One of the most fun gifts I've ever gotten was a subscription to a magazine I loved reading. It showed up, month after month, on my door step without me having to shell out at the grocery store. It came packed with stories that fascinated me, bursting with information I could use. To this day, I still give out mag subscriptions during the holidays.
It's a trick you can use yourself for the foodies in your life. You can send a 'scrip to one of these great culinary magazines and it won't set you back as much as you might think. Right now glossies like Food Network magazine, Food and Wine and Bon Appetit are all marked down, some as low as $1.25 an issue.
